I'll be honest I mostly got this game because I'm such a big fan of the Front Mission Series, and it has been pretty fun, though it plays nothing like the other games in the series. It's definitely one of the prettiest games on the SF, especially the cutscenes. It strove to have massive wargame-style battles that would put the strategy in strategy RPG, alongside. ![]() Since it's an action game you don't really need to know the language, but there's lots of story between missions, dialogue in missions, and menus to navigate so if you want to play on an actual SF cart maybe go to GameFaqs first. At a technical level, Front Mission 2 is an exemplar of PlayStation era overambition. I have an actual cart so I've been playing in Japanese, I don't know Japanese, so I can't say much more about the story. Gameplay-wise it looks, plays, and controls very much like Cybernator (Assault Suits Valken), however it's a slower paced game that requires a little more strategy, there's quite a few more levels ,and it get's harder. Squaresoft’s 1996 Super Famicom game Front Mission: Gun Hazard is no different, moving far away from the SRPG stylings of series-starter Front Mission and stomping over to the mech-action territory so expertly wielded by Masaya’s team almost four years earlier in Assault Suits Valken. Storywise it has a whole new set of characters, it takes place in the same universe, but it's non-canon. Gun Hazard is a Japan exclusive 1996 spinoff to Front Mission, for the Super Famicom. If you enjoy tactics JRPG's like Fire Emblem, Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy then give this game a go. I never understood why people liked Front Mission 3 so much when you only had 4 playable characters in that game. This game is also much better than the other Front Mission games. Ever play Assault Suits Valken or Leynos Maybe Metal Warriors Then you probably already love this one too.Everyone else Strap in to your Wanzer and get re. This team requested that other websites do not host their English patch. Their finished English translation was released in 2013. It was created by The Front Mission 5 Team. Too conservative and you become overwhelmed and lose anyway. Front Mission 2 (English) This is the English translation that makes the Japan-only version of Front Mission 2 (PS1) turn English. Push too hard and your repair bill next level will be over the top. The actual combat is fantastic, you really need to be careful. Expect to spend up to an hour between levels to optimize your equipment. ![]() This is a game for experienced tactics gamers, but not quite as hard as FE Geneology of the Holy War or Thracia 776. Gameplay, there is a lot of micromanaging. ![]() Without making any spoilers past the into cutscene, the purpose of the game is to find your fiance who went missing and while looking for her you build up an army and get deeper and deeper into enemy occupied territory. The story is a bit dark compared to other games in the JRPG genre, very comparable to an actual war.
